The DogHouse Supreme Story
Jon Hudnall and DogHouse Supreme Cannabis – a 5-time Dope Cup award winner- is an Oregon and Washington State-based grower enthusiastic about experimentation and innovation in growing techniques. Hudnall has been working with Sunscape LEDs since their early prototype days and has seen first-hand the benefits of using LED lighting in cannabis cultivation.
“The Sunscape LED light fixtures have allowed me to successfully cultivate cannabis strains with lower wattages while still achieving high yields and excellent quality,” Hudnall says. “The spectral output of the Sunscape LEDs is very close to that of the sun, which helps to promote healthy plant growth.”
In addition to the improved plant growth, Hudnall has also seen a significant decrease in energy costs associated with LED lighting.
“I’ve been able to reduce my electricity usage by up to 70% when compared to traditional HID lighting,” Hudnall adds.
Sunscape LED grow lights were used in a dedicated flowering room at DogHouse. SUNSCAPE’s extensive testing at DogHouse has provided consultation for the company and further data on SUNSCAPE’s products that would not be available from a standard trial.
All DogHouse strains showed considerable improvement with SUNSCAPE lighting
- their Scoobie Snacks strain which grew by 27% in THC (19.49% HPS vs. 24.81% LED).
- Terpene levels set a record high for DogHouse at 5%.
- The SUNSCAPE and DogHouse teams also noticed that DogHouse’s “Wet Dog” had a 12% THC increase.
- “Slymer” when grown under SUNSCAPE lights increased by 7% in THC. SUNSCAPE and DogHouse consistently produced over one gram per watt.
“I’ve been able to reduce my electricity usage by up to 70% when compared to traditional HID lighting.”

Sunscape LED has been shown to be an effective grow light for cannabis plants during the flowering stage, even when used by growers who are accustomed to growing larger plants with traditional LED lights. Despite this being only a test of the Sunscape LED light and using clones that were not of the best quality, the results were impressive.
